Welcome to the Troop 589 Web Site!

For information on Chaska area Cub Scout Packs CLICK HERE

Troop 589 is located in the Southwest suburbs of the Minneapolis area and includes members from Chaska, Chanhassen, Victoria, Carver, Eden Prairie, and Shakopee and other nearby cities.

When a boy joins Troop 589, Scouting becomes an extension of their family: Scouting follows strong moral values, we see to the overall care and well-being of your son, and we are always there for them. It’s not an either/or choice for your active family and your son. We work with you to let you manage your time and other activities and will always be there for you and your son when you return. We have many Scouts that are involved in in-house, traveling, and high school sports teams, band or music programs through the school or privately, drama and acting, etc., which all take time as well. Yet many of these Scouts are on their way to Eagle, or have attained Boy Scouting's highest rank.

New and prospective Scouts and their parents will find a wealth of information about the Boy Scouts of America program in general and Troop 589 in particular here at our web site. We welcome you to explore the available information and invite you to personally visit our Troop meetings. We typically meet the first 3 Tuesdays of the month at The Center for Faith in Life on the Mount Olivet Rolling Acres church campus at 7150 Rolling Acres Road, Victoria.

We look forward to meeting you and hope you choose to join our Troop!

NEW Troop 589 Photo Sharing

Posted on Sep 15 2016 - 5:40pm
An EASY way for Troop families to submit photos to the NEW Troop 589 photo INBOX, via Dropbox:

Click on this link to upload your photos,  http://goo.gl/h4Saap

From there, a Dropbox page will open, inviting you to upload photos.  Only the Troop Dropbox Administrators (Historian, Mentor, and Scoutmaster) will have access to the uploaded photos.  The Historian (with aid from the Mentor) will sort the photos and create a presentation video for the next Court of Honor to show what activities the Troop has recently done.

After the COH, the photos will be archived and viewable on the Troop website.

Troop Photo Sharing Site

Friendly Reminder... join our Flickr group and upload your Troop photos please...

www.flickr.com/groups/troop589 is the web address for our new photo sharing site.  Although our main Troop website has some photo album capability, it is very limited from a space persepective.  So we have set up a flickr group, and each of you should have recieved an invitation to join for your email addresses on record with the Troop.  If you haven't gotten an invitation to join, then you need to update your email address with us.  Please drop a note to scoutmaster589@yahoo.com with your new email and I'll get it added to the Troop site and get a flickr invitation out to you as well if you so wish.

Calling all scouts, I need some help with my eagle project!  The project is a workbench that will be used by residents of a group home as part of Mount Olivet Rolling Acres.

On Saturday, September 10th at 10:00am at my house, (908 Ridgecrest Drive, Carver MN)
I will need scouts to help me stain my lumber. This shouldn't take more than two hours. Please wear clothes you can get messy.
Please sign up on the Troop website here.

You also might want to bring safety glasses just in case.

On Sunday, September 11th at 10:00am,
I will need help from older scouts to help with assembly for anywhere for two to four hours.
